Steve Morton

President, Attorney and Counselor

Mr. Morton appreciates the entrepreneurial spirit of small business. That appreciation was a key motivator for his founding Morton PLLC in 2001 after engaging in a large firm corporate and securities law practice for 23 years. As a corporate counselor, he has advised clients, been the lead attorney on, or supervised, approximately 75 private placements, 25 SEC-registered underwritten or dealer-managed public offerings and well over a hundred acquisitions and divestitures.

Mr. Morton is well equipped to engage in a business practice. He received his law degree from Vanderbilt Law School in 1978, where he was an associate editor of The Vanderbilt Law Review, and received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt as well, majoring in Economics with a minor in Business. Between undergraduate studies and law school, Mr. Morton was on active duty in the U.S. Navy, serving as Supply and Disbursing Officer aboard USS Southerland (DD-743) from 1972 until 1975.

Mr. Morton is a member of several professional organizations and sections, including the State Bar of Texas (member of Business Law Section), American Bar Association, and the Dallas Bar Association (Corporate Counsel and Securities Law Sections).
